Watch Care
A luxury timepiece is engineered to last for generations, but its longevity depends on proper maintenance. From the resilience of the crystal to the intricate geometry of the case and the suppleness of the leather strap, learning how to clean and protect your watch preserves both its mechanical integrity and its timeless aesthetic.
Explore our curated, step-by-step guidance below to master the art of timepiece preservation.
Prepare the elements
Fill a small dish with lukewarm water and a soft cloth. We recommend using microfiber cloths for any watch cleaning procedures.
Circular motions
Dip the cloth into the liquid and run it across the glass in circular motions. Do not apply excessive pressure, you are just trying to remove any debris or dirt collected on the watch crystal.
The case back
Remember to clean the back of the watch as well.
Final touch
Dry the watch with a dry microfiber cloth.
Water Exposure
Your EON timepiece contains a delicate mechanical movement. This is the beating heart of your watch and is made of a myriad of metals. Therefore it is best to minimize exposure of your watch to any water or moisture.
Unless it's a dive watch, we recommend you remove your timepiece when attending a shower or swimming. You can always check the water resistance on the case back of our watches.
Remove the strap
Carefully remove the strap off the watch. This will allow you to get easier access between the lugs.
Gentle cleaning
Soak a soft cloth in lukewarm soapy water. Rub your case gently with the cloth to remove fingerprints, dirt and debris. Unless your timepieces is rated for it, don't dip the watch under water.
Watch geometry
Dirt will naturally get caught in the edges and shifts of planes in the watch case geometry.
Deeper clean
For deeper cleaning you can use a soft bristle brush. Do not be aggressive - you risk leaving micro scratches on the case.
Drying phase
Dry the case with a dry soft cloth.
Magnetism
Watches with mechanical movements contain extremely thin and sensitive springs. Exposure to magnetic fields can magnetize this spring and impact time keeping accuracy.
It is a good practice to keep your timepiece away from strong magnets and electronic devices.
Surface wipe
Carefully remove the straps from the watch case. Wipe them with a dry cloth to remove any dirt or material collected on the surface.
Gentle soap
Dampen a microfiber cloth, and apply a little bit of gentle soap to it. Wipe the leather band with this cloth in circular motions.
Rinse & clean
Rinse the cloth under running water. Squeeze out excess water and use the damp cloth to remove any soap from the leather strap.
Air dry
Air dry the leather watch strap. Do not place it under direct sunlight.
Conditioning
Apply leather conditioner to the watch strap as per instructions on the bottle.
